Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is upon us!  Wishing everyone a very Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.

With Thanksgiving comes Christmas thoughts and homemade gifts make the best gifts.  I’ve got several projects in the works (or planning stages) for Christmas presents.  These are the types of gifts that people remember and hold on to for years to come.  What kind of homemade gifts are you doing?

Time for a breather

The craft show last weekend was a success.  It was a little surprising what people were buying.  I sold a lot of plastic bag holders, heating pads, and tissue holders.  Only sold one quilt which was really surprising.  Quilts are often a big seller and mine are fairly small (lap size).

I’m taking a few days off from sewing to gather myself and regroup.  There are a couple of shows coming up in the next few weeks and I want to try and do those so I will have to get back at it here soon.

Hope everyone is having a great fall season.  I love this time of year.  As always…if you are interested in an item, please send me a message.

Have a great day!  Until next time…

Projects

I know it’s been a while since I posted.  I’ve been busy sewing away and selling at our local farmer’s market.  I’ve also been busy getting things ready for being a first-time vendor at a local craft show in October.  Fall is in the air and I’m loving it!  Time for craft fairs, pumpkins, beautiful leaves and quilts.

Quits?  Yes, quilts.  I’ve been working on some rag quilts to sell at the craft show as well as the farmer’s market.  In addition to rag quilts, I’ve been making rag placemats and coasters, plastic bag holders, microwavable heating pads, and pillows.  All of this in addition to a few commissioned items for folks.

For now, I’ll simply post some pictures of items that I have finished and are available for sale.

Happy crafting and happy shopping at craft shows and farmer’s markets this fall.  Support the artisans.

Purpose

A while back I started making items with my sewing machine.  At first it was small items for me or as gifts for friends and family members.  The first ones probably weren’t that great to be honest but I was thrilled with them.  There is a joy about taking a plain, flat piece of material and transforming it into a blanket, a place mat, a coaster, or even a holder for plastic bags.  I’ve since begun to make items to sell.  It’s just a hobby and something fun to do but why not make a few dollars doing it at the same time.

I’ve set up at our town’s farmer’s market most weeks and had moderate success.  There’s always an ebb and flow to these types of things.  One thing that folks have asked is if I have a website where they can see pictures of items that I have made.  This is going to be that website.  I have relied on Facebook previously which has worked but isn’t the best option.

I invite you to view pictures of items I’ve made and if you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.  I can do some custom orders (different patterns, etc).  I enjoy making a rag quilt or other item specially for someone as I feel that’s more personal.

I’ll post more pictures as time goes on.  I also hope to share some blogs that I follow and have learned a lot from.  I still consider myself a novice when it comes to sewing and have much more to learn.  I hope you will join me on the journey.

Blessings,

Christy
